About the Position

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Full Charge Bookkeeper/Staff Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, with a comprehensive understanding of bookkeeping principles and practices. The Full Charge Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing the financial records of the organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting.

What you'll do

  • Perform full cycle bookkeeping duties, including but not limited to:
    • Accounts Payable (AP): Process vendor invoices, assign proper job codes, and manage payments.
    • Accounts Receivable (AR): Generate invoices, track payments, and follow up on overdue accounts.
    • Payroll: Process W2 and 1099 filings
    • Bank and Credit Card Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank and credit card statement reconciliations.
    • General Ledger Management: Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring proper classification of transactions.
    • Sales Tax Reporting: Prepare and file sales tax returns, ensuring compliance with state and local tax regulation
    • Fixed Assets: Record acquisitions, disposals and maintain the depreciation schedule.
    • Expense Reports: Review and approve expense reports using Concur expense management system.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software (Netsuite)
  • Prepare financial statements, reports, and summaries on a regular basis (month end and year end)
  • Conduct periodic audits to verify accuracy of financial records.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information and resolve discrepancies.
  • Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, or Finance.
  • 3+ years professional bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Netsuite, Concur)
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Proactive problem solving and ability to self-manage projects
  • Multi-State Payroll experience and Multi State Sales Tax experience preferred
  • Must live near one of these markets (Raleigh/Washington, DC/Baltimore/Philadelphia)
